Dad’s Hat Pennsylvania rye is made with 100% rye grain grown in Pennsylvania (many rye whiskeys are blended with barley, corn or other grains). The rye is aged in charred American oak “quarter casks” (smaller barrels than the standard 55-gallon drums in order to promote greater contact with the wood) for “a minimum of 6 months.” This is a very short period of time for whiskey in general but with the quarter casks will gain more oak. In this expression, the whiskey is given a finish in Vya vermouth barrels
